German Point to Points can be sold only outside of Europe when plating on 9b or our interline partners. USA agents can issue both paper and e-tickets.

The “German Rail Ticket” is valid from / to the following airports which have direct ICE / IC links to / from major cities in Germany: Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) Dusseldorf Airport (DUS), Frankfurt Main Airport (FRA) and Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ). For these destinations the timetable is loaded into the GDS. Other cities from / to these airports can be booked by using IATA Code “QYG” which stands for every train station in Germany. The whole schedule is available through DB’s website www.bahn.de/international.

Tickets are sold the same way as any regular airline ticket worldwide except in Europe; sales in Russia , Turkey, Moldavia and Ukraine are possible. Availability display, booking, attaching the fare record and finally ticketing – all are based on the regular PNR.

Seat reservation:
On trains of German Rail, you may travel without having a seat reservation, just choose any available seat. Advance seat reservation is available through German Rail website www.bahn.de/international or locally at the ticket counter. The cost of a seat reservation is EUR 3.00 per direction and per person. DB will not deny boarding to its passengers. Passengers will always be accommodated on services for which they hold tickets.

Validity/Rebooking:
The ticket is valid on the train, date and class mentioned on the ticket. In case of a delayed flight – travel on the next available train permitted.
German Rail Ticket can be booked worldwide except in Europe, sales in Russia and Turkey are possible.
Rebooking from First Class to Second Class is not permitted. Rebooking from Second Class to First Class allowed on board by the train conductor.

Ticketing:
Ticketing is allowed any time prior departure. 

Refunds:
EUR 15 penalty fee is applicable for cancellation and refund after ticketing.
Changes are not permitted.


General Information

Involuntary changes:
In the event of unforeseen changes in DB’s operating schedule (train cancellations, strikes, acts of God, etc.), DB will accommodate all affected passengers on its next available service.

Meals:
DB does not provide special meals to its rail passengers. Meals or refreshments are available for purchase on trains.

Baggage:
Passengers will be responsible for their own baggage during their entire journey connecting to/from and while aboard DB.
The free baggage allowance is a total of two (2) pieces per passenger.

Pets:
Smaller dogs and cats in pet carriers travel free of charge. Medium and large dogs will be charged 50 % of the First Class or Second Class fare, which can be paid in advance at the train ticket counter or to the conductor.
Note: All dogs that require a ticket will need to be leashed and carry a muzzle.
Pets may travel in the passenger cabin on trains operated by DB with prior arrangement with the other passengers. A maximum of two (2) pets may be carried per passenger.

Guide Dogs:
DB accepts service animals for carriage in the passenger cabin free-of-charge. These are defined as seeing-eye / hearing ear animals (including monkeys) or search dogs trained for rescuing victims. These animals are not included in the maximum number of cabin pets allowed.
All other animals (e. g. narcotic/explosive detection dogs, show dogs, etc.) are transported at passenger expense.

Special Assistance/Medical Coordinator for Wheelchairs/Blind/Deaf passengers:
DB does not have a medical coordinator. Passengers requesting wheelchair and/or special assistance should contact “DB Mobility Service/ DB Mobilitätszentrale”. Further information on DB website in English is available at www.bahn.de/international  –Wheelchair and special assistance reservation have to be made at least 7 working days prior to departure. DB trains do not have on-board wheelchairs. The symbol é is displayed in the station and on-board the train to indicate facilities for people of reduced mobility. The same symbol indicates the appropriate trains in the timetable. In order to have a specially-equipped place on the train, you must make a reservation.
One wheelchair space per train is provided on DB’s ICE/IC trains to allow passengers to travel in their wheelchairs. Advance reservation is highly recommended to help boarding trains with wheelchairs.

DB’s Lounges:

At Frankfurt Airport, Frankfurt Main Station, Mannheim, München, Nürnberg, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Hannover, Cologne and Düsseldorf are separate waiting areas called “DB Lounge” with comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Passengers travelling to a final DB rail station will have access to DB Lounges when presenting their First class ticket.

  • German Rail is e-ticketable worldwide, including Europe on interline partners.
  • Travel agent issues the e-ticket and receives the German Rail order code (Ticket pickup number used at the DB ‘BahnTix’ vending machine) via SSR.

Pickup of Rail & Fly and Point to Point ticket at the train station in Germany

  • Once the e-ticket including DB segment is issued, the DB Rail & Fly or point to point ticket is available for pickup at all DB vending machines by entering the ticket pickup number
    (Example: 637631133)
  • When the DB ticket is picked up, the status of the DB coupons in the electronic ticket will be changed from 'open' to 'flown'.
  • If the DB ticket is not picked up, the railway coupon(s) remain 'open' and can be refunded and cancelled by the travel agent.
After the passenger has picked up his Rail & Fly ticket, the time-frame for his onward journey is limited. It is advisable that the passenger prints out his ticket on the day of travel.
However, the return portion, if purchased, can be used any time within next 12 months
