LNER is a train operating company in the United Kingdom that operates the InterCity East Coast franchise on the East Coast Main Line between London, Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland.

In partnership with AccesRail, LNER opens up a number of journey opportunities to an international audience which previously were just not possible.

Destinations

LNER rail services are available between London King’s Cross (QQK) and cities along the East Coast Main Line of the United Kingdom.

  • Passengers booking an LNER segment connecting in or out of London Heathrow will now receive a Transport for London Anytime ticket that will enable them to travel on the Underground between King’s Cross station and Heathrow Airport.
  • Passengers connecting to or from London Gatwick Airport and King’s Cross station (via St. Pancras Station) will receive an Anytime train ticket on Thameslink services.
  • Passengers with connections to/from London City Airport will receive a Transport for London Anytime ticket that will enable them to travel on the Underground and the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) between King’s Cross station and the airport. The connection between the DLR and the Tube’s Northern Line can be made at Bank station.

How to book it

Travel agents/airline ticket offices book the rail sector between London King’s Cross (QQK), London Heathrow (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW) or London City Airport (LCY) and/or Leeds (LBA), Newcastle (NCL), York (QQY), Edinburgh (ZXE), Aberdeen (ABZ) and Inverness (INV).

AccesRail replies to the booking that includes LNER segment indicating need to check-in within 72 hours before departure of the rail segment at check-in.accesrail.com to retrieve their train ticket.

When issuing on 9B/450 plate please use “ SSR CTCE” format at the booking time in order to communicate PAX email address to 9B so that 9B could send an email 72 hours to departure reminding passenger about compulsory check-in on accesrail.com.

Baggage Policy

LNER baggage policy can be found in UK National Rail Conditions of Travel (Part II 47). Passengers can make a single booking that covers both the air and the rail segment (via a print at home ticket) to a selection of VT stations.

Documents de voyage

At the time of purchase the travel agent issues the e-ticket and receives the ticket pickup number via Special Service Request (SSR). To retrieve their actual travel document, passengers must check-in prior to boarding the train. View sample travel documents. The issued travel documents include one LNER ticket and a Transport for London voucher valid on the Tube and DLR if the passenger is arriving at Heathrow Airport or London City Airport. If the passenger is connecting with London Gatwick Airport, a Thameslink ticket voucher will be provided with the LNER ticket. The Thameslink or London Transport voucher must be exchanged at a National Rail Station vending machine.

Period of Validity

  • Scheduled train departure time (indicated on the boarding pass).

Always check departure screens at Stations for the exact departure times and check platform numbers which can be altered at short notice. Airport Transfers

Interline passengers connecting to/from both Heathrow and London City Airports will receive a Transport for London voucher for travel on the London Underground and/or DLR (Docklands Light Railway). If the passenger is connecting with London Gatwick Airport, a Thameslink ticket voucher will be provided. This will allow them to travel between the airports and King’s Cross station.

How to commute between Heathrow Airport and London King’s Cross station:

  • By Taxi: The trip between Heathrow Airport and London King’s Cross takes about an hour, the cost is about 50 to 80 GBP
  • By Tube: Take the Piccadilly line the whole way. The trip is 23 to 25 stops and takes approximately an hour. The cost is about 6 GBP
  • By Heathrow Express: Take the train to Paddington Station (15 minutes). The cost is 25 GBP one way. From there, either take a taxi to King’s Cross Station (10 minutes) or take the Tube 5 stops on the Hammersmith & City Lines (13 minutes)

How to commute between Gatwick Airport and London King’s Cross station:

  • By Gatwick Express: Take a Gatwick Express train to Victoria station, then take the Victoria tube line to King’s Cross station. (51 minutes)
  • By Train: Take the train from Gatwick to St Pancras station and then walk to King’s Cross station. (56 minutes)
  • By Trains & Tube: Take a train to Victoria station from Gatwick, then take the Victoria tube line to King’s Cross station. (55 minutes)

How to commute between London City Airport and London King’s Cross station:

  • By Taxi: The trip between London City Airport and London King’s Cross takes about 20 minutes, the cost is about 25 to 30 GBP.
  • By Tube and DLR: Take the DLR from the Airport to Bank Tube station. From Bank, take the Northern line to King’s Cross / St Pancras Underground station. The trip takes approximately one hour. The cost is about 6 GBP.

How to commute between Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Waverley station (City Center):

  • By Tram: Edinburgh Trams run services from every 7 minutes to the City Centre with a journey time of 30 minutes. The tram features stops at the financial district, Murrayfield Stadium and railways stations at Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park, Haymarket and St Andrew Square (for Waverley). There are several luggage racks throughout the vehicle. Single tickets cost about 6.50 GBP.
  • By Taxi: A journey to the city centre typically takes about 25 minutes.

How to commute between Leeds Bradford Airport and Leeds Rail station (City Center):

  • By Bus: The Flying Tiger 757 bus from Leeds Bradford Airport runs every 30 minutes to the Leeds Railway Station with a journey time of approximately 30 minutes. Single tickets cost about 4 GBP.
  • By Taxi: A journey to the city centre typically takes about 27 minutes.

How to commute between Newcastle International Airport and Newcastle Rail station (City Center):

  • By Metro: The Green Line Metro from Newcastle International Airport runs every 12 minutes to the Newcastle Central Railway Station with a journey time of approximately 24 minutes. Single tickets cost about 3.10 GBP.
  • By Taxi: A journey between the airport and the main Newcastle train station typically takes about 15-30 minutes.

Your travel document must be retained and available for inspection during your journey. The ticket must be clearly printed on plain, clean, white paper. Problems with printing will not be the responsibility of LNER. The ticket is for the named passenger only and is not transferable or for resale.

Proof of ID will need to be carried along with the ticket during your entire journey.

FAQ

What if the passenger misses their train connection?
The ticket is valid for the specific service listed and in the event of disruption or delay it will be accepted on the next available service, subject to availability. Customers may not travel on an earlier service than the booked rail service.
